Advantages of Dental Veneers

This type of dental treatment can be an ideal solution for many patients. Veneers are used to treat cosmetic concerns that may result from having teeth that are chipped, broken, discolored, misshapen, or particularly small. The veneer is a thin shell that is directly attached to the front surface of a tooth, and with this placement, it's able to enhance the appearance of that tooth.

Any adult is eligible to receive veneers. A veneer can be applied to just one tooth that may be experiencing an issue, or Dr. Singh can apply a set of veneers to your front teeth. Many of our patients have opted for this more comprehensive approach because it helps the row of teeth look more uniform. Whatever your decision is, Dr. Singh will work to make sure that everything can blend together in terms of size, shape, and color.

Taking Care of Dental Veneers

Veneers are very easy to care for. Regular brushing and flossing of your teeth is a great way to make sure they can continue to look nice. You do have to be careful and avoid certain habits, though. You should avoid chewing on hard objects with your front teeth and avoid using your teeth to open packaging.

Types of Dental Veneers

A no-prep veneer can go straight over a tooth, and it works better for people with minor issues. If there are more significant problems to address, Dr. Singh generally recommends prepped veneers. With these, Dr. Singh would have to prepare your tooth for the veneer. This usually involves providing you with an anesthetic and then gently grinding down some of the tooth structure, which allows for more cohesive bonding between your natural tooth and the veneer. When the permanent veneer is ready, it will be bonded to your tooth with dental cement. Dr. Singh will then make necessary adjustments to make sure there's a perfect fit.

Many of our patients choose to get porcelain veneers because they're strong and long-lasting. Resin-based veneers are another option to consider.
